A violent clash between the Greenlanders and Bobos cult groups has left three people dead in the Igbogene community of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. when about 10 armed cultists stormed the area, wielding dangerous weapons. Their presence created panic, forcing residents to flee and barricade themselves indoors for safety.
One of the victims was the son of a former leader of the community’s vigilante group, popularly known as Money Sweet. According to a resident who spoke on condition of anonymity, “He was shot near his house. Another victim, who was not a cultist, was killed because he couldn’t disclose the whereabouts of his elder brother.”
The Bayelsa State Police Command confirmed the killings and identified the victims as Donaldson Mison, 28; Addy Mulan, 27; and Greenboy Dudella, 29.
The tragic event has left the Igbogene community in fear and mourning as authorities work to address the situation.
