
The Cross River State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Abubakar Robert Ewa, tragically passed away on Wednesday evening at the Arubah Specialist Hospital in Calabar.
Earlier that day, Ewa had participated in a State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Bassey Otu. Hours later, he was rushed to the hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death.
Following the news, members of the State Executive Council and other close aides to Governor Otu gathered at the hospital to console the late commissioner’s family and offer their condolences.
Mr. Ewa was a notable figure in the state’s political and administrative circles. Over the years, he held various significant roles, including Secretary and Chairman of the Boki Local Government Council, Special Adviser on Community Relations, and Secretary of the Anti-Deforestation Task Force.
His sudden death has plunged Cross River State into a state of mourning, with many expressing shock and sorrow over the loss of such a dedicated public servant.
