The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the Gwagwalada Area Council Chairmanship, Hon. Ezekiel, has promised to run an open-door administration that includes transparency in finance and project execution if elected.

Speaking during an interactive session with supporters and community leaders, Hon. Ezekiel threw a subtle jab at the incumbent Chairman, Hon. Abubakar Giri, over the council’s lack of basic infrastructure—particularly the absence of a befitting town hall for public functions.

According to Ezekiel, the inability of Gwagwalada to boast of a single functional town hall remains a “shameful reflection of poor leadership and lack of vision.”

“Having a town hall is a shameful something,” he said. “You go to Kwali, you see a town hall; you go to Kuje, you see a town hall. Why is it not possible for the people of Gwagwalada to have their own? When you go to Lagos and you see something good, you come back to your community and emulate what you saw, so your own people can also enjoy.”

The APGA candidate emphasized that the absence of such a facility has forced residents to take events to neighboring communities like Dukpa or to struggle with inadequate venues within the council.

“They want to do occasions in Gwagwalada, they have to go to Dukpa or be worried about where to host people,” Ezekiel lamented. “Because if you check Gwagwalada, there is not any industry, no big halls where people can celebrate their activities or loved ones.”

Hon. Ezekiel pledged that within his first 100 days in office, he would ensure that Gwagwalada has a modern town hall that reflects the pride and dignity of its people.

“So I think in my first 100 days, it is possible to have a Gwagwalada Town Hall in place,” he declared confidently.

The APGA flagbearer further reiterated his commitment to transparency and inclusivity, stressing that his administration will operate under an open-door policy where every financial record and developmental project will be accessible to the public.

Political observers see Ezekiel’s comments as a strategic swipe at the incumbent council chairman, Hon. Abubakar Giri, whose administration has faced criticism over stalled infrastructural development and alleged lack of accountability.

With campaigns heating up across the area council, Hon. Ezekiel’s promise of a town hall and open governance is likely to resonate with many residents who have long yearned for visible change and participatory leadership in Gwagwalada.
