The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has directed the arrest of a former staff member, Olakunle Alex Folarin, for allegedly withholding the agency’s property, including his official identity card.

Folarin, who worked as a driver at the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Office, was dismissed from service after being found guilty of certificate forgery.

In a statement issued by the Commission, it disassociated itself from Folarin’s recent appearance on a matchmaking show hosted on Lege Miami’s social media platforms, stressing that his activities after dismissal had nothing to do with the agency.

According to the EFCC, its Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, ordered that the ex-staff be arrested for refusing to hand over items belonging to the Commission following his dismissal.

The anti-graft agency further warned the public against linking Folarin’s personal activities to the EFCC, noting that it remains committed to upholding integrity, accountability, and professionalism in the discharge of its responsibilities.

“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, strongly condemns the participation of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in a matchmaking programme aired on Lege Miami’s social media platforms,” the statement read.

“Folarin was dismissed for certificate forgery after serving as a driver at the Commission’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate. The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has directed his arrest for being in possession of some EFCC property, including an identity card, which he failed to return after dismissal.”

The Commission concluded by urging Nigerians not to associate Folarin’s post-dismissal activities with the agency.
