The Plateau State Police Command has declared six additional individuals wanted in connection with the brutal mob killing of wedding guests in Mangun District, Mangu Local Government Area, on June 21, 2025.
The victims, who were travelling from Zaria in Kaduna State to attend a wedding in Quan Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State, reportedly took a wrong turn and ended up in Mangun — a community that had recently experienced violent attacks by armed groups. Fearing another assault, some residents mistook the travelers for attackers and mobbed them, setting their vehicle on fire. Thirteen of the 31 passengers, including women and children, were killed in the incident.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, security operatives launched an investigation that led to the arrest of 22 suspects. Last Friday, 20 of those arrested were arraigned before a court on several charges, including criminal conspiracy, causing grievous bodily harm, arson, armed robbery, and culpable homicide. They have all been remanded in Jos Correctional Centre.
During a press briefing held on Sunday, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Adesina, confirmed that six individuals believed to be involved in the attack are still on the run.
“So far, we have successfully apprehended 22 suspects as a result of thorough and rapid police action. However, six suspects are yet to be found,” Adesina said.
He emphasized the police command’s commitment to bringing all those responsible to justice, adding, “We are deploying all lawful means to ensure the remaining suspects are tracked down and made to face justice for this barbaric act.”
