The sad news was confirmed on Sunday by his longtime aide, Garba Shehu, who announced that the former leader died in a London clinic earlier today.
In a statement, Shehu wrote:
“Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
The family of the former president has confirmed his passing this afternoon in London. May Allah grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. Ameen.”
Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023, leaves behind a complex legacy and a nation in mourning.
