The African Action Congress (AAC) FCT Chapter strongly condemns the arbitrary rent hikes in Abuja communities, which have left residents frustrated and struggling to make ends meet amidst the harsh economic realities of the Tinubu administration.

We believe that these exorbitant rent increases are not only unjust but also have severe implications for the general public and the economy. Many residents are being forced to pay unsustainable amounts for basic shelter, leaving them with little to no disposable income for other essential needs. This has resulted in increased poverty, inequality, and social unrest.

Furthermore, the high cost of rent is stifling economic growth, as people are being forced to spend a large portion of their income on rent, rather than investing in businesses, education, or other productive activities.

To address this issue, we demand that the government takes immediate action to regulate the rent market and prevent arbitrary rent increases. We also propose that landlords who charge exorbitant rents be taxed, with the revenue generated used to provide affordable housing options for low-income residents.

We invite FCT residents to join the African Action Congress, a working party that is ready to work for the people, addressing their concerns and plight as citizens of Nigeria. Our party is committed to creating a society where every citizen has an equal opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background or social status.

As FCT elections approach, we encourage all residents to participate in voting for credible candidates who share our vision of a better Nigeria. Together, we can create a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and our communities.

Join us in our quest for a Nigeria that works for all. Become a member of the African Action Congress today and let’s work together to build a better tomorrow.

Signed,

*Agena Robert Ande*
