The Kogi State Police Command has commenced strict enforcement of the mandatory Third-Party Insurance Policy for all vehicles in line with the directive issued by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Miller Dantawaye, has instructed officers across the state to ensure full compliance with the directive.

In a statement released in Lokoja by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, the commissioner emphasized that motorists in Kogi must adhere to the policy without exception.

According to him, the enforcement, which took effect on Saturday, February 1, 2025, is aimed at promoting road safety and ensuring that all vehicle owners comply with insurance regulations. These regulations, he noted, are in place to safeguard both drivers and other road users.

Dantawaye appealed to Kogi residents to cooperate with officers carrying out enforcement duties, stressing that non-compliance would lead to legal repercussions.

He further urged all vehicle owners and road users to secure valid third-party insurance to avoid difficulties during the enforcement exercise.

To ensure the policy is fully implemented, the commissioner has directed all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers to enforce the directive professionally and in accordance with standard procedures.
