Terrorists, locally referred to as bandits, have abducted at least 15 residents from the Gatakawa community in the Ƙankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. Among those kidnapped were the headmaster of Gatakawa Primary School, Malam Ghali Junaidu, along with his wife, his younger brother Ibrahim, and Ibrahim’s wife.
The attack occurred on Thursday night, as reported by a source in Northwest Nigeria on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). During the raid, one individual sustained injuries as the attackers carried out their violent actions, instilling fear and panic among the residents of the community.
This abduction follows closely on the heels of another disturbing incident in which bandits raided the Ƙankara General Hospital. The growing insecurity in the region has raised concerns among locals and authorities alike.
In a related incident, Chronicles Reporters previously reported how a group of terrorists, also known as bandits, attacked the Kankara General Hospital in Katsina State on Tuesday night. During the attack, a medical doctor, Dr. Murtala Sale Dandashire, was shot, and at least five individuals were abducted from the hospital.
A source named Bakatsine shared images of the attacked doctor on X, stating: “Bandits stormed Kankara General Hospital in Ƙankara LGA of Katsina State, shot Dr. Murtala Sale Dandashire, and abducted five people. There is a need to enhance security in hospitals across Katsina State.”
The source also highlighted the frequency of such attacks, mentioning that within the past three months, bandits had targeted three hospitals in the state: Kurfi General Hospital, Mai Tsani Hospital in Dutsin-ma LGA, and Kankara General Hospital. Dr. Dandashire, an indigene of Kankara LGA, was noted as the best graduating medical student of 2019 from the prestigious ABU Zaria.
