A tragic accident involving an articulated truck has claimed the lives of six people and left 60 others injured on Hassan Katsina Road in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a statement released by Mr. Samuel Oyedeji, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kogi State.

Oyedeji confirmed the fatalities and injuries, stating, “I can confirm to you that six people died, while 60 others got injured in the accident.”

The statement detailed the swift response of rescue teams: “Our officers, in collaboration with the Police and NSCDC personnel, quickly transported the injured victims to the Kogi Specialist Hospital and the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, for medical treatment.

“The remains of the six deceased individuals have also been deposited at the Federal University Teaching Hospital,” Oyedeji added.

Preliminary findings revealed that the truck, which was en route from Bauchi to Enugu State, encountered the mishap near the Zone 8 Roundabout in Lokoja.
