
The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of five individuals from Odu-Eku, a community in the Isin Local Government Area of the state. According to a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the victims, comprising two males and three females, have been taken to an unknown location.
“The Kwara Police Command is aware of a kidnapping incident that occurred around 1:15 am on January 15, 2025, at Odu-Eku Camp in the Odu-Eku Community, Isin LGA of Kwara State, where five individuals were abducted,” the statement read.
It added, “Two males and three females were taken to an undisclosed location. Immediate deployment of police personnel, in collaboration with local vigilantes, has been made, and a rescue operation is underway. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.”
Earlier reports by Chronicles Reporters revealed that gunmen suspected to be kidnappers stormed Odu-Eku in the early hours of Wednesday, abducting five individuals, including a mother and her daughter.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 1:30 am, left residents of the community in fear. Speaking to Chronicles Reporters, Elder Ogundeji, the Odofin of Odu-Eku, confirmed that the attackers invaded the victims’ homes under the cover of darkness and carried out the abductions.
“The victims are members of the Hausa community residing in Odu-Eku for farming purposes. Among those kidnapped are a woman and her daughter, another woman who was visiting them, and two men,” Ogundeji explained.
He added that police officers visited the community, inspected the scene, and assured residents that they would investigate the incident and work towards rescuing the victims.
