The Nigeria Police Force has obtained a remand order from the Chief Magistrate Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, to detain Reno Omokri, a prominent social media influencer and former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, alongside Pastor Abraham Daniel and the Enenche brothers, Enenche Idoga Alexander and Oboyinlo Enenche Peter.

The remand warrant was issued by Chief Magistrate Emmanuel A. Iyanna through an ex-parte motion filed by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on January 13, 2025. The motion, referenced as ME/07/2025, named Omokri and the three others as respondents.

Granting the application, Magistrate Iyanna directed the Nigeria Police to ensure the respondents are produced in court on January 30, 2025. He stated, “An Order of this Honourable Court for remand warrant of the Respondents… in the custody of the Nigeria Correctional Service pending investigation, arraignment/prosecution. The matter is adjourned to 30 Day of January, 2025.”

The remand order follows a petition submitted to the Inspector General of Police by Patrick O. Okolo, SAN, accusing Reno Omokri, Gistlover Blog, Aunty Adul, Peter Obonyiro, and others of alleged defamation and cyber-bullying.

Backstory on Pastor Abraham Daniel’s Arrest

According to a source familiar with the case, Pastor Abraham Daniel’s legal troubles began after he resigned from Dunamis Church following a disagreement with Pastor Paul Enenche. The source revealed that Pastor Daniel’s departure, after over a decade of service that contributed significantly to the church’s growth, was met with opposition from Pastor Enenche.

The source alleged that Pastor Enenche tried to influence Daniel’s family to persuade him to return to the church, leading to marital tensions that eventually resulted in a divorce. The source further disclosed that after Daniel left the church, he began receiving threats, culminating in a car accident under suspicious circumstances.

“On the day of the accident, unknown callers pressured him to share his location. Shortly after, men in plain clothes arrived at the scene, accompanied by a lawyer named Abbass. They persuaded the other party involved in the accident to settle the matter. Daniel was then taken to Karu Police Station, where the DPO informed him that the arrest was orchestrated by Pastor Paul Enenche,” the source recounted.

The source claimed Daniel was advised to apologize to Pastor Enenche. Efforts to contact the pastor were unsuccessful, and Daniel was later transferred to another police division. During this time, Daniel was allegedly pressured to delete his Facebook page in exchange for compensation for his damaged car. Although Daniel complied, he was reportedly given only ₦200,000, far less than the agreed amount.

Further Allegations and Arrests

The case escalated on January 3, 2025, when the Force Intelligence Department invited Pastor Daniel for questioning over allegations of cyber-bullying, defamation, and inciting public nuisance. He was detained again on January 13, 2025, after being asked to apologize and remove social media posts critical of Pastor Enenche and his family.

The source claimed the allegations against Daniel included sharing posts questioning the living conditions of Pastor Enenche’s aunt and raising concerns about Deborah Enenche’s tattoos. Daniel reportedly confirmed the authenticity of the posts but denied malicious intent.

The police have since intensified their search for Reno Omokri, who is implicated in the case.
