MaxAir Limited has announced that its flight operations will face temporary disruptions between January 4 and January 8, 2025, due to planned aircraft maintenance.
In a statement released on Sunday, the airlineâs management explained, âThis necessary maintenance ensures we continue delivering safe, reliable, and efficient services to you.â
The airline noted that during this period, some routes might experience schedule adjustments or cancellations.
However, MaxAir reassured passengers that normal flight operations would resume on January 9, 2025. Passengers affected by the disruptions are advised to reschedule their flights without incurring any additional fees.
This announcement follows an incident in December 2024 when a MaxAir aircraft experienced engine failure shortly after takeoff from Maiduguri International Airport. Chronicles Reporters had earlier reported that the aircraft, carrying Borno State Deputy Governor Alhaji Umar Kadafur and over 100 passengers, was en route to Abuja when a bird strike caused an engine fire approximately 10 minutes into the flight.
The pilot and crew successfully executed an emergency landing back at Maiduguri Airport, averting what could have been a major disaster. In a subsequent statement, the airline explained that the pilot made the decision to return after observing abnormal engine performance indicators.
