The Anambra State security outfit, “Operation Udo Ga-Achi,” also known as “Agunechemba,” has demolished Udoka Golden Point Hotel and Suites, popularly referred to as “La Cruise Hotel,” located along Onitsha-Owerri Road.

According to the security team, the hotel had been used as a hideout for kidnappers and other criminal activities. A statement from the Anambra State New Media, shared on X late Saturday night, revealed that over 30 graves, a shrine, and other incriminating items were discovered on the top floor of the two-story building.

Chronicles Reporters earlier reported on January 20 that Agunechemba had successfully uncovered several notorious kidnappers’ hideouts in Isiagu, Awka South Local Government Area.

In a video shared on Sunday, the leader of the security team described the shocking discoveries. He explained, “We found a shrine along with live cartridges and ammunition. When we removed the pot from the shrine, it contained blood-like content. These items, including the ammunition, were handed over to the police at the SARS office in Awkuzu, where they are currently being kept as evidence.”

He added, “On the top floor of the hotel, they had well-partitioned graves of over 30 individuals. This is where most of their spiritual activities took place.”

When contacted, Mr. Christian Aburime, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, confirmed the demolition. He explained that the action was part of the state’s ongoing crackdown on criminal activities.

“The hotel was demolished after investigations linked it to kidnappers’ operations. Several items, including graves, army uniforms, and live cartridges, were found there. The community had long complained about gunshots heard at night from the hotel. This drastic action has brought relief to the residents,” Aburime said.

He added, “Many people were scared to report these activities due to fear of retaliation. However, with the Homeland Security Law 2025 and other measures in place, it has become easier to identify and flush out criminals in Anambra State. This demolition is a clear message that crime will not be tolerated.”

Aburime also noted that more buildings linked to criminal activities would be destroyed, and their owners prosecuted. “If any property is connected to crimes like kidnapping, robbery, or hired killings, it will be demolished, and the owners will face the law,” he emphasized.
