A 32-year-old sex worker, Riyanatu Musa, has admitted to stabbing a bartender, Yohanna Musa, to death following a dispute over a N200 debt in Mubi, Adamawa State.

According to the Adamawa State Police Command, the incident occurred after an altercation between the two over an unpaid balance for liquor. The state police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, revealed that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.

Riyanatu Musa explained that she had taken a bottle of dry gin, popularly known as “Big Ben,” along with another drink from the victim, promising to settle the bill the following day. While she managed to pay N1,500, a balance of N200 remained unpaid.

SP Nguroje stated, “The suspect narrated that the fight broke out when the victim demanded the remaining N200. In the heat of the argument, she stabbed him in the chest with a knife, leading to his death.”

The police have since taken Riyanatu Musa into custody as investigations into the incident continue. The tragic event has sparked conversations about the dangers of escalating disputes and the need for conflict resolution.
