The Zone 16 Police Command has apprehended three individuals accused of involvement in fraud and drug-related offenses in Rivers State.

According to SP Gunn Emonena, the command’s spokesperson in Yenagoa, the arrests were made on Saturday, December 7, 2024, by the Zonal Financial and Cyber Crime Unit. Acting on reliable intelligence, officers raided the Rumukparali Community in Obio/Akpo Local Government Area, leading to the detention of the suspects.

The suspects, identified as Billion Ndubuisi, Charles Amachree, and Martins Chinemike, reportedly admitted to posing as Ryam Bill, a US-based lawyer, to defraud St. Andrea and Charlen Zielinsky of $71,500.

During a search of their premises, police discovered wraps of suspected cannabis, two vehicles, two laptops, and 10 mobile phones.

SP Emonena revealed that the suspects attempted to bribe the officers with $17,000 through an intermediary, but the offer was firmly rejected. “The bribe money has been registered and will be presented as evidence in court,” he said.

The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of the zone, Adebola Hamzat, reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the region and across the nation.

Emonena also highlighted the unwavering dedication of the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, to maintaining public safety and security.
