The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed, has made a public appeal for assistance in locating a missing Corps Member, Yahaya Farouk. Farouk, who is currently serving in Ikuru town, located in the Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, has been missing for several days. His last known location was at a Chinese company within the community.

A press release issued on Wednesday by Caroline Embu, the Acting Director of NYSC Information and Public Relations, stated that security agencies are making significant efforts to find the missing corps member.

General Ahmed has also urged the community to come together and help with the search. During his visit to Ikuru town, he appealed to both the youths and elders in the area to assist security agencies in locating Farouk.

The statement further emphasized that the NYSC DG stressed the importance of ensuring the security and welfare of corps members at all times. He also pointed out that the responsibility of securing corps members and providing welfare packages lies with the host communities.

In his remarks, General Ahmed said, “The essence of my visit is to appeal for your assistance in locating the Corps Member who came to serve from another state.”

The youth president of Ikuru town, Mr. Etete Jerb Anthony, along with Ward Secretary Mr. Paul Friday, also shared their efforts in trying to find Farouk. However, despite their attempts, they reported no success so far. They did assure that search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
