The Taraba State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the tragic killing of a pastor and a woman by gunmen in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State.
According to the police, the slain cleric has been identified as Reverend Clement Sunday Anthony, while the woman’s identity remains unknown at the time of this report.
SP Usman Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, disclosed to Chronicles Reporters on Sunday that the incident occurred on Friday night. He revealed that the woman was attacked while she was studying for an examination in her room.
“The woman was shot in the stomach while reading for an examination in her room. The pastor was also shot dead at a neighboring compound,” Abdullahi explained.
He further noted that the gunmen did not abduct anyone or steal any money or valuables from the two compounds they targeted.
However, SP Abdullahi did not provide details about the church denomination to which Reverend Anthony belonged.
