
The Nigerian Army has identified and arrested the soldiers caught in a video beating and dehumanising two civilians in the Oloko area of Badagry, Lagos State.
Chronicles Reporters had earlier reported that some personnel of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigerian Army were captured on video beating and dehumanising two civilians in the Oloko area of Badagry, Lagos State.
It was gathered that the incident occurred after the victims attempted to record footage in a known smuggling zone.In a video obtained by chronicles Reporters, two men were seen being beaten by Nigerian security operatives, a customs officer and a soldier.
The customs officer was accusing one of the victims, who was subjected to the beating, of exposing the smugglers.
The Customs officer said, “The question where me I dey ask you, as controller dey help you say make you eat, he do you bad thing. Your oga where be Tunde who he helps for this Badagry, the Tunde where you dey follow how much you can see for his hand?
“If you no dey good time with Tunde waiting dey make you do this video.”
The customs officer, speaking in Hausa, told a soldier to beat the victims severely.
“Wallahi-tallahi if you no tell me true, you go suffer,” the Customs officer said.
The victim was seen shouting in pain while the customs officer and soldier were beating him repeatedly without stopping.
The customs officer said, “See you go regret this thing where you dey do so, na me help Tunde go South Africa, go and ask him, him go tell you say na me.”
However, the victim was shouting that nobody sent him, while the second victim was beaten to a stupor as well.

Nigerian investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo, via his X handle on Tuesday, called on the Nigerian Customs Service to learn from the events that triggered #EndSARS and stop provoking the people.
Meanwhile, in a statement released on Wednesday, by the army, the leadership condemned the actions of the soldiers and assured the public that appropriate disciplinary actions would be taken.
The statement read, “After preliminary investigation, the Nigerian Army wishes to inform the general public that it has identified and arrested the soldiers involved in the unprofessional handling of two civilians in an unfortunate incident that occurred in Badagry-Lagos State as viewed in a viral video.
“A comprehensive military police investigation of the suspects is ongoing. Be assured that justice will be served accordingly.”
