The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), has shut down several establishments, including The Lord’s Chosen Church, Celestial Church, hotels, and restaurants, due to persistent noise pollution concerns.
The enforcement, aimed at curbing environmental infractions, was part of the agency’s intensified efforts to protect public health and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
In a statement released on Monday, Dr. Tunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, emphasized the importance of the operation, noting that noise pollution remains a serious environmental issue that disrupts community peace and poses health risks.
Dr. Ajayi explained that the crackdown focused on areas such as Shomolu, Oniru Victoria Island, Jakande-Lekki, Badore Ajah, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Sangotedo, Ogombo, and Lekki Phase 1, among others.
Some of the affected establishments include Celestial Church, Zodiac Lounge, Pixel Park Studio, The Lord’s Chosen Church, Sneakers Suites & Bar, Wimpy Hotel, SBL Hotels, Handsworth Hotel, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church, West Syde Exclusive Hotel & Suites, and Kobis Restaurant.
Speaking further, Dr. Ajayi reiterated LASEPA’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and healthy environment for all residents. “Noise pollution and other environmental violations disturb the peace and health of our communities. Today’s enforcement action reflects our zero-tolerance stance towards offenders and our determination to uphold environmental laws,” he said.
He urged businesses and religious establishments to adhere strictly to environmental regulations, warning that failure to comply would lead to sanctions. Ajayi also reaffirmed LASEPA’s dedication to creating a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable Lagos.
