A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama has granted Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, bail in the sum of N500 million over allegations of involvement in a N110 billion fraud.
The ruling was made by Justice Maryann Anenih on Thursday, who approved the bail application under specific conditions. Bello is required to provide three sureties, each with a bail sum of N500 million. These sureties must be responsible citizens with landed properties in high-value areas of the FCT, including Guzape, Wuse 2, Apo, Asokoro, and Jabi.
In addition to the property requirements, the sureties must submit two passport photographs each and present valid identification documents, including their National Identification Number (NIN).
Bello is facing charges under sections 96 and 311 of the Penal Code Law Cap. 89, Laws of Northern Nigeria, 1963, which are punishable under section 312 of the same law.
This latest development comes just one week after Bello was granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja in a separate case, where he is accused of laundering N80 billion.
