
An Allied Air cargo plane with registration number 5N-JRT crash-landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja on Wednesday morning. Chronicles Reporters gathered that the incident, which occurred at around 10:05 a.m., was caused by the failure of one of the aircraft’s landing gears. The E-Cargo plane had six crew members on board at the time of the crash.
All crew members were quickly evacuated and are currently receiving medical evaluations at the 063 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) medical unit. Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported. Emergency responders moved swiftly to secure the crash site, with the area being cordoned off under the supervision of the Military Airport Commandant (MAC) and other relevant authorities.
The crash has led to the temporary closure of the airport’s runway, causing significant delays to flights both arriving and departing. Passengers and airlines have been advised to anticipate disruptions until further updates are provided. Meanwhile, airport authorities and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) are working to remove the stranded aircraft and inspect the runway for any possible damage.
