The Bauchi Judicial Service Commission has terminated the appointment of Umar Ibrahim, a Shari’ah Court judge, over allegations of serious misconduct. Ibrahim, who was stationed at the Jalam Shari’ah Court in the Dambam local government area, faced dismissal following an investigation into his conduct.

Dr. Ibrahim Danjuma, the chairman of the Judicial Service Commission, confirmed the dismissal in a statement to reporters in Bauchi. He emphasized that the action was taken in accordance with the commission’s duty to ensure that judicial officers uphold the highest standards of ethical and professional behavior. The judge’s actions were said to have breached the judicial code of ethics and principles.

Dr. Danjuma further explained that the decision was aimed at preserving public trust in the judicial system by ensuring that all judicial officers remain accountable to their responsibilities.

In related news, the Judicial Service Commission has also introduced promotion exams for staff members from grade level 8 and above. These exams will assess staff knowledge of legal principles, judicial procedures, and ethical standards, as well as their understanding of their roles within the judiciary.
