
The Bauchi State Police Command has commenced investigation into the gruesome murder of a 57-year-old businessman, Alhaji Mohammed Samaila, in the Misau Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the victim was shot d3ad by suspected gun men who invaded his residence on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
According to reports, despite several pleas by the victim and his aged father to spare him and take money instead, the killers just shot him in the head and fled the scene.
The source said the gunmen came around 1:00am and entered the deceased’s house through his neighbour’s, fired several shots to instill fear in the neighborhood before killing the victim. We suspected that the killers were hired assassins. They came around 1am, they fired several shots. There is one of the neighbors who flashed a torchlight, they fired through his direction. They were carrying weapons,” the source said.
“He begged them to spare his life, but they didn’t listen. He asked them if it was money they wanted he would give them. His father joined in asking them to spare his son but to no avail. They just shot him on the head and left him.”
The spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, December 15, said the assailants fled with an undisclosed amount of money while the victim was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced d3ad. The Bauchi State Police Command is committed to maintaining the safety of our communities and is actively addressing recent criminal incidents. On 14 December 2024, at about 0310 hours, the command received an emergency call from Alhaji Samaila Gaina, a 75-year-old resident of Gaina Village, reporting an armed robbery and tragic shooting at his home,” the statement read.
“At around 0250 hours, four unidentified armed assailants broke into his residence, resulting in the unfortunate loss of Alhaji Mohammed Samaila, aged 57, who was fatally injured during the incident. The assailants fled with an undisclosed amount of money. The victim was transported to the Federal Medical Center in Misau, where he was pronounced dead.
“In response to this serious incident, the Bauchi State Police Command immediately dispatched a team of homicide detectives to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
“Our dedicated investigators are focused on identifying and apprehending those responsible for this heinous act, and we are committed to ensuring justice for the victim and his family.
“CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, the Commissioner of Police for the Bauchi State Command, has expressed deep condolences for the loss suffered by the family and condemned this act of violence. He reassures the public that the Command is fully invested in enhancing community safety and encourages anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
