At least five people were killed, and three others sustained injuries when bandits launched an attack on Kuringafa town in Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State.
A witness, who also shared details on X (formerly Twitter) under the handle @DanKatsina50, revealed in a Saturday post that the attack occurred on Thursday night. During the raid, the assailants rustled numerous cattle, leaving the community in disarray.
In a related development, the same witness reported another attack on Friday night, this time in Yari Bori village, also in Kafur Local Government Area. The bandits reportedly abducted five girls during this raid but were intercepted by members of a local vigilante group and the Community Watch Committee (CWC).
“On Friday night, bandits stormed Yari Bori village in Kafur LGA, Katsina State, and kidnapped five girls. However, they were pursued and confronted by CWC and vigilante members, who successfully rescued all the abductees and forced the bandits to flee,” @DanKatsina50 wrote.
He added, “This attack came barely 24 hours after the bandits had invaded Kuringafa town in the same LGA, where they killed five residents, injured three others, and rustled several cattle.”
When Chronicles Reporters reached out to the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sodiq Aliyu, for confirmation and updates, he promised to investigate and provide feedback. However, as of the time of filing this report, no further information had been received from the police spokesperson.
