In a disturbing development, armed assailants abducted two children of Alhaji Aliyu Idris Ibrahim, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State. Ibrahim previously served as the chairman of Zaria Local Government.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Wednesday in Kwarbai, Zaria, while the children were returning from their Islamiyya school. Since their abduction, their whereabouts remain unknown, leaving the family and community in deep concern.
Tahir Abubakar M, a family friend of the former council chairman, confirmed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He shared, “Innalillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Yesterday, after I dropped off their uncle, he called to inform me that the children had been kidnapped while on their way back from Islamiyya. These children are the kids of the immediate past chairman of Zaria Local Government.”
Efforts by Chronicles Reporters to contact ASP Mansir Hassan, the police spokesperson in Kaduna, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls or messages.
