Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, are set to lead a nationwide prayer session addressing the pressing challenges facing the nation.
This interfaith initiative, organized in partnership with both Christian and Muslim leaders, seeks divine assistance amid the country’s ongoing crises. The Director General of the National Prayer Forum (NPF), Chief Segun Balogun Afolorunikan, shared details of the event during a press briefing in Abuja, under the theme “Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs.”
Afolorunikan underscored the need for unity and collective action in confronting Nigeria’s complex issues, stressing that only by coming together can lasting solutions be found. He expressed hope that this prayer session would inspire both leaders and citizens with renewed strength to face the nation’s shared challenges.
“We believe that by the end of this session, God’s wisdom will guide our leaders and citizens alike in overcoming our common adversities,” he stated. Afolorunikan voiced optimism that Nigeria would move into 2025 with a renewed sense of purpose and stability.
The prayer sessions will be held at prominent venues. For seven days, Muslims will convene at the National Mosque in Abuja, where 313 participants will engage in Qur’anic recitations, totaling 2,191 recitations, all dedicated to the nation’s stability. Concurrently, Christian prayer warriors from different denominations will gather for a week of dedicated prayer at the National Ecumenical Centre, focusing their prayers on the nation’s pressing issues.
Afolorunikan also noted extensive outreach efforts for this event, including engagements with leaders from the National Mosque, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and traditional leaders such as the Sultan of Sokoto.
