A tense moment unfolded at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday when five minors, detained during the August #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, fainted while standing trial for alleged treason and an attempted plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government.

It began when one of the young defendants, visibly malnourished, suddenly collapsed in the dock. Moments later, four others followed, slumping to the floor of the courtroom.

The scene plunged the court into chaos, as lawyers and officials rushed to assist the minors. Immediate aid was provided to revive the children, who were then swiftly transported to the hospital, leading to a temporary halt in court proceedings.

After this incident, the prosecution moved to dismiss the charges against the minors, citing health concerns under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015. The defence counsel, Abubakar Marshal, further pressed for the minors to be released to their parents.
