On Saturday, rocket fire from Lebanon targeted Central Israel, injuring 11 individuals and exacerbating the ongoing conflict between Israeli forces and Hezbollah.
One of the affected areas was Tira, where a local resident named Qasim Mohab recounted the chaos that ensued. “We rushed outside to find dust everywhere, with children and women screaming. Everyone hurried to the house that was hit,” he told Reuters. He expressed relief that no fatalities occurred, adding, “We managed to evacuate and help those trapped inside.”
According to Israel’s ambulance service, the injuries were primarily caused by shrapnel, and air raid sirens continued to sound across northern Israel amid persistent rocket attacks from Lebanon.
On the Lebanese side, health authorities reported that 52 individuals were injured as a result of Israeli airstrikes in the Baalbek area the previous day.
Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed militant group, has intensified its missile attacks on Israel in solidarity with Hamas, following the latter’s assault on October 7 that resulted in approximately 1,200 Israeli deaths and the capture of 251 hostages taken to Gaza.
In retaliation, Israeli military actions in Gaza have reportedly claimed over 43,000 Palestinian lives, with Lebanon’s health ministry reporting at least 2,897 fatalities.
Israeli officials have stated that the ongoing violence has led to 71 deaths within Israel and the occupied territories as clashes continue.
