A United States Navy aircraft, carrying two crew members, has crashed in Washington state. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, specifically east of Mount Rainier.

The Navy has officially confirmed the crash and reported that a search and rescue operation is currently underway for the two individuals on board.

According to a statement from Navy officials, the aircraft involved is an EA-18G Growler, a type of electronic attack aircraft within the F/A-18 family. The plane was conducting a routine training mission at the time of the incident.

As of 7 p.m. on October 15, the condition and whereabouts of the crew members remain unknown, as reported by NBC News.

The rescue efforts involve a Navy MH-60S helicopter that has been deployed from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, located north of Seattle.
