A pall of grief has settled over a village in Nyamira County, Kenya, following the brutal murder of a woman and her two daughters. Their bodies, discovered in separate ditches in the Motagara and Gesima regions on October 1, 2024, were found after the family had gone to visit a relative.

Local sources, including a community administrator, confirmed that the victims—identified as Jane, Edinah, and Lonah—were killed elsewhere before their bodies were discarded. “The murders did not occur in this area; only the bodies were returned here. She had visited her sister when this tragedy struck,” a local investigator revealed.

Footage from the scene highlighted the community’s deep sorrow as residents grappled with the loss. One villager expressed their heartbreak, emphasizing the urgent need for action against the increasing violence in the region.

“Five individuals have been murdered recently, not due to illness but by violent acts. We urgently call on the government for assistance. These killings are happening without consequence, and although local authorities are aware, they have failed to take adequate action,” the villager lamented.

In response to the outcry, local authorities have committed to a thorough investigation into the murders, vowing to hold those responsible accountable.
