The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointment of 21 nominees as federal commissioners for the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

These appointments were made by President Bola Tinubu in August, and he sought the Senate’s approval for their confirmation. The confirmation followed the presentation and review of the report by the Joint Committee on National Planning, Economic Affairs, and Finance regarding the appointments.

On Wednesday, the upper legislative chamber approved the nominees after Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, representing Kebbi North and chair of the joint committee, presented the findings. Abdullahi highlighted that all the nominees were found fit for public office. He also noted that with these appointments, each state in the federation now has representation on the RMAFC board.

“The confirmation of the 21 nominees ensures the commission is now at full capacity, with every state represented,” Abdullahi stated during the session.

The confirmed nominees are as follows:

Linda Nkechi Oti (Abia)

Akpan Imo Effiong (Akwa Ibom)

Enefe Ekene (Anambra)

In his remarks, Senate President Godswill Akpabio congratulated the new commissioners and urged them to dedicate themselves to their responsibilities. He encouraged them to serve as exemplary representatives of their respective states and the nation at large.
