
A donation totaling N140 million has been made to assist victims of the recent petrol tanker explosion in Jigawa State, which claimed the lives of 181 people. The contribution was announced when Speaker Abbas Tajudeen led a delegation of lawmakers to express their condolences to the people and government of Jigawa.
During the visit, Speaker Abbas announced, “The House has entrusted me and the members here to convey a donation of N100 million to support the medical care of those hospitalized and to provide additional assistance to families who lost loved ones.”
Additionally, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, contributed N40 million and provided food items for those affected by the explosion. The First Lady’s donation was presented by Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abbas, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
In response, Jigawa State Governor Mallam Umar Namadi extended his gratitude for the donations, assuring that the funds would be directed towards supporting the victims, many of whom are still recovering in the hospital.
The delegation also paid a visit to Rasheed Shekoni Federal University Teaching Hospital to check on those receiving treatment.
