As the #FearlessInOctober protests continue across Nigeria, demonstrators have obstructed a key roadway in Lagos, the nation’s commercial hub. Led by Hassan Soweto, a national coordinator for the Education Rights Campaign, protesters parked a van in the center of the Ojota area to voice their grievances about the country’s deteriorating conditions.

This blockade caused significant disruption, forcing many drivers to turn back and seek alternative routes while others became trapped in the congestion.

The protests are fueled by widespread dissatisfaction over the economy, with rising inflation, soaring food prices, and fuel cost hikes being primary concerns for many citizens.

In response, President Bola Tinubu’s government has intensified crackdowns on demonstrators in various regions, a move that has drawn criticism from numerous organizations and individuals alike.
