Police operatives from the Ikotun Division of the Lagos State Command have apprehended a 25-year-old man, Demola Oladega, for his alleged involvement in cable vandalism. While his accomplices managed to escape, the police recovered a motorcycle used for the crime. According to reports from P.M. EXPRESS, Oladega was taken into custody at Governor’s Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos, shortly after the group had stolen cables and other items. The arrest occurred as the suspects were attempting to flee with the stolen goods.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that Oladega is currently in police custody and is undergoing interrogation regarding the incident. Hundeyin revealed that on October 16th, 2024, at around 6:30 AM, the Ikotun Police Division received a distress call from a security officer stationed at a company along Governor’s Road. The officer had noticed suspicious behavior involving two young men on a motorcycle loitering in the area.
“Acting swiftly on the information, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) sent out the Anti-Robbery patrol team to the location, where one of the suspects, Demola Oladega, was captured, while the other managed to flee,” Hundeyin explained.
The police recovered several items from the scene, including the vandalized cables, a used battery, and a Pongxing motorcycle bearing the registration number KSF 854QL. These were seized as evidence.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the accomplices who escaped. Investigations continue, and Oladega is expected to be charged in court for his alleged crimes, under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
