
Five men, identified as Jimba Hassan (23), Jamiu Adepoju (30), Abbey Kareem (40), Olayiwola Ibrahim (35), and Tiamiyu Soliudeen, have been arraigned on charges of conspiracy, impersonation, and unlawful possession of charms. The men, who appeared before the court, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the Prosecutor, Inspector Olufemi Omilana, the accused were apprehended on September 27 at 5:20 p.m. in the Sasa area of Ibadan. Omilana stated that the suspects, all male, were found disguising themselves as women, intending to deceive and defraud unsuspecting individuals. They were also discovered in possession of various charms at the time of their arrest.
The prosecutor pointed out that their actions violate Sections 516, 484, and 213 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000. Presiding over the case, Magistrate Gladys Oladele granted each defendant bail at ₦500,000, with the condition that they each provide two sureties in the same amount.
Magistrate Oladele further ruled that one of the sureties must be a relative of the accused. The case was adjourned until December 4 for further mention.
