Residents of Tokulo, a community in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), are in shock after 12 bodies, believed to be those of suspected bandits, were discovered early Tuesday morning.

Jerry Alkali, the councillor for Igu Ward, confirmed the grim discovery. He noted that as of Tuesday, the bodies were still at the scene. Authorities have been informed, but no official statement has been made to explain the presence of the corpses.

A local resident, who asked to remain anonymous, stated that none of the victims were from the Tokulo community. The resident speculated that the deceased could have been brought in and shot, possibly by security forces.

Tokulo has seen its share of violence in recent times. Bandit attacks in the area have previously claimed the lives of both residents and security personnel. The community is also the hometown of the current Bwari Area Council chairman.

This incident echoes a similar discovery in Kawu, another community in the same area. In September, five bodies, also believed to be bandits, were found there.

An official from the FCT’s Special Anti-kidnapping Unit confirmed Tuesday’s discovery but declined to offer further details on the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Efforts to contact SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, for a comment were unsuccessful.
