A group of protesters under the banner of the Ondo Youth League assembled at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, on Tuesday. Their mission: to demand the immediate redeployment of Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ondo State, as the November 16, 2024, governorship election approaches.

Videos shared on the official X handle of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) showcased the protest, where demonstrators, singing and dancing, held placards with messages like, “Mahmood; redeploy Babalola now.”

The post read, “Ondo Youth League protesting at the @inecnigeria office in Maitama, Abuja, for the removal of INEC REC in Ondo State ahead of the November 16, 2024, Guber Election.”
