On Saturday, October 5, 2024, a group of Nigerian and foreign students gathered outside the Nigerian High Commission in London to protest against President Bola Tinubu. They called for the reversal of what they described as “anti-poor policies” and demanded the release of individuals detained during the #EndBadGovernance protests.
The demonstration was organized by socialist students under the banner of ‘Fight for Socialism’. Participants included both Black and White students, who held placards with slogans such as “Drop all charges and release protesters” and “Reverse all anti-poor policies.”
Footage obtained by SaharaReporters shows protesters chanting, “When I say Tinubu, you say thief,” expressing their frustration over the government’s treatment of those involved in the #EndBadGovernance movement.
The protesters not only called for the release of detained activists but also aimed to highlight policies they believe are detrimental to Nigeria’s most vulnerable populations.
The rally took place outside the Nigerian High Commission located at WC2N 5BX, London, where chants echoed, “Tinubu, thief; Tinubu, thief,” reinforcing their message.
