A suspected armed robber riding a motorcycle was apprehended by officers of the Ogun State Police Command during a routine stop-and-search operation. The arrest took place at Orita/Idi-Oke Road in Ogun State, and a gun along with three live cartridges was recovered from the suspect. The arrest, which occurred on Thursday night, was announced by the state’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, on her X (formerly Twitter) handle.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Imole Ajayi, was intercepted by officers on patrol at approximately 8:30 p.m. during their routine checks. Upon searching him, police found a firearm and live ammunition in his possession, leading to his immediate arrest.

In her post, the Police PRO shared the following:
“ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT AND POSSESSION OF FIREARM. 18th OCTOBER, 2024
‘One Imole Ajayi, aged 27 years, was arrested on a motorcycle by police during a stop and search operation at about 8:30 p.m. on October 17, 2024, at Orita/Idi-Oke Road. Please, if you recognize him, kindly come forward.'”

Ajayi has reportedly provided useful information to the police during interrogation, and further investigations are ongoing. He is expected to be charged to court once investigations into his criminal activities are concluded.

The Ogun State Police Command continues to battle various forms of criminal activity, including armed robbery, cultism, and kidnapping, as they work to maintain law and order.
