Residents of Imo State have continued to observe the sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) for a second consecutive day. According to a Daily Trust correspondent in the area, the atmosphere in Owerri and surrounding regions has remained calm since the order was announced on Monday.
In response to the situation, security forces deployed armored vehicles and helicopters throughout the state to maintain order and ensure public safety. However, despite these security measures, many residents chose to follow the directives from IPOB and ESN.
Our correspondent noted that both private and commercial vehicles were largely absent from the roads, while federal and state employees failed to show up for work. Additionally, bank workers joined their peers in observing the stay-at-home order, resulting in a significant closure of schools across the state.
The ongoing compliance with the IPOB/ESN directive highlights the impact of the group’s influence within the region, even amidst the heightened security presence.
