The Gombe State Police Command has apprehended eight suspects involved in various serious offenses, including criminal conspiracy, theft, armed robbery, and culpable homicide. The arrests were announced during a press briefing on Tuesday at the State Police Command headquarters in Gombe.

ASP Buhari Abdullahi, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), shared updates on the Command’s efforts under the leadership of Commissioner Usman Hayatu to combat crime in the state. He noted that the suspects were arrested for their involvement in different criminal activities.

One of the cases involved criminal conspiracy and armed robbery. The suspects, Ahmed Shuaibu (24) of Barunde quarters, Gombe, Abubakar Usman (23) of Kumbiya-Kumbiya quarters, Gombe, Mohammed Nuhu Jibrin (30) of Abuja Lowcost quarters, Gombe, and a suspect identified as Habu, who remains at large, were arrested after a robbery incident.

According to the police, a complaint was lodged by Alhaji Isah Suleiman of Tudun Wadan Pantami quarters on October 2, 2024. He reported that a group of armed individuals broke into his house, attacked him, and stole several items, including a Heojue UD motorcycle, mobile phones, jewelry, and other valuables.

Following the complaint, officers from the Low-cost Division acted swiftly, arresting Mohammed Nuhu Jibrin and, through him, apprehending two more suspects. The fourth suspect, Habu, is still at large. Recovered items included the stolen motorcycle, mobile phones, jewelry, and other items.

During the investigation, the suspects reportedly admitted to being involved in armed robbery, car theft, and homicide, with some having previous convictions. They will face charges once investigations are complete.

In another case of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, the police arrested Abdulwahab Abubakar (16) of Bomala bye-pass quarters, Gombe, and Sadiq Abdullahi (15) of Riyal bye-pass quarters, Gombe. The suspects, along with another individual known as Musa, who is at large, were involved in an attack on Sanusi Jibrin, who was seriously injured and robbed of his phone on September 25, 2024.

The police quickly responded to the incident, providing medical assistance to the victim and arresting the suspects. Recovered from them was a Huawei GSM phone. They too will be charged once investigations conclude.

Additionally, the police arrested Haruna Ibrahim (20) of Tumu, Akko LGA, for his involvement in the murder of Auwalu Maigadali (27) of Kashere, Akko LGA. The victim was attacked and killed by hoodlums on October 2, 2024, at Tukulma Village. Police from the Pindiga Division responded to the crime scene, transported the victim to the hospital, and arrested Ibrahim. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.

The PPRO concluded by urging the residents of Gombe State to remain vigilant, cooperate with the police, and report any suspicious activities. He assured the public that all information would be handled confidentially.
