
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has demanded a comprehensive investigation into the tragic death of Chikezie Mba, an Ogene musician widely known as Igbo Jah.
Reports from SaharaReporters indicate that on Friday evening, Mba was fatally shot by a police inspector at the headquarters of the Police Anti-cult Tactical Squad, where he had gone on a visit.
Governor Mbah, expressing his sorrow on Saturday via social media, extended his condolences to Mba’s family. He emphasized that a complete investigation had been ordered to uncover the truth behind the incident.
“It was with deep sadness that I received the news of Okezie Mba’s untimely passing, known fondly as Igbo Jah. This is a tremendous loss to us as Ndigbo and especially to Ndi Enugu,” Mbah stated.
He acknowledged Mba’s significant contributions to Igbo culture through his Ogene music, which resonated with audiences locally and internationally. “His work played an essential role in promoting the Igbo culture.”
Governor Mbah reassured the public of his commitment to justice, sharing that he had been briefed by the police and had instructed an in-depth investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mba’s death. “This probe is vital to ensure justice is served for him, his family, and fans worldwide,” he noted.
In a closing message, the governor conveyed his condolences to Mba’s family and supporters. “On behalf of Ndi Enugu, I offer my heartfelt sympathies. May his soul find eternal peace,” Mbah wrote.
