The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has called upon the public to contribute evidence as part of its inquiry into serious allegations of homosexuality involving two of its leaders. The church is actively seeking information to aid in this investigation.
To facilitate this process, RCCG has set up a dedicated reporting system for both church members and the general public. Evidence can be submitted via email at rccgadm@gmail.com or through the phone number 09039000700.
Reports surfaced on Tuesday indicating that Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa had been suspended from their roles following accusations of homosexual misconduct involving younger congregants. The RCCG National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande, confirmed the suspensions in a memo dated October 28, 2024, which was obtained by SaharaReporters. The memo stated that both AdeBello and Mayowa have been temporarily relieved of their church duties.
Additionally, it was reported that the church has tasked the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration with a two-week timeframe to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations.
On the same day, AdeBello took to Instagram to refute the allegations, stating that his previous silence had been misconstrued as an admission of guilt. He firmly denied any involvement in homosexual acts, expressing a desire to clear his name and restore his reputation.
In a statement released by Pastor Sunday Akande, titled “RCCG Addresses Allegations Against Youth Ministers,” the church encouraged anyone with relevant evidence to come forward. Akande emphasized that only credible evidence directly related to the case would be considered, urging that unrelated submissions would not be reviewed.
“All evidence should be sent to the Special Assistant to the General Overseer [Administration] at rccgadm@gmail.com or 09039000700. Your cooperation is vital to uphold our commitment to justice and to ensure a comprehensive resolution,” he noted.
He also reassured the congregation that a thorough investigation is underway, with both ministers placed on indefinite suspension from their duties until the allegations can be fully resolved. Akande reiterated that the RCCG is founded on the principles of holiness, reflecting its core values in all teachings and practices.
“We are committed to transparency and will not tolerate any actions that undermine our principles or conceal any wrongdoing,” he stated. The church appreciates any help in this matter and invites individuals or groups with credible evidence to come forward.
