The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC) has alerted customers in the South East about a significant system failure, which has caused widespread power outages across its service area.
In a statement released on Monday evening, Emeka Ezeh, the Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, detailed that the grid collapse occurred at 18:48 on October 14, 2024.
As a result of this incident, all interface stations with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) are currently without power. This disruption affects customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.
The EEDC mentioned that they are on standby, waiting for further details regarding the cause of the collapse and updates on the restoration of power from the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo.
