On Tuesday, bandits launched an assault on a Mobile Police (Mopol) base in Garagi, Yartsamiyar Jino Village, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. The attack resulted in the deaths of four police officers, while another officer sustained injuries.
According to residents, the attackers seized the rifles of the officers during the violent incident. Alongside the police casualties, two civilians from the local community also lost their lives in the attack.
One resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the bandits also set fire to classrooms at a local primary school in Tsamiyar Jino, which had been serving as a temporary camp for the security forces.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the Katsina State Police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
