In Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, suspected bandits have reportedly abducted Nasiru Baro’s wife, a nursing mother with a six-month-old infant, while she attempted to pay ransom for their kidnapped daughter.
According to Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis reporter in northwest Nigeria, Baro’s wife went to hand over the ransom to secure the release of her daughter, Wasila Nasiru, who had been kidnapped last week. However, upon arrival, the bandits allegedly took her as well and now claim they do not have the child.
The family is facing extreme hardship, with this latest ordeal bringing additional emotional and financial strain.
Efforts by SaharaReporters to contact Aliyu Sadeeq, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls, texts, or WhatsApp messages at the time of reporting.
“Nasiru Baro’s wife went to deliver the ransom for their kidnapped daughter, Wasila Nasiru, who was abducted last week, but the bandits took her too and now claim they don’t have the child,” the journalist explained.
She reportedly left behind her six-month-old baby, whom the bandits abandoned in Wagini, Batsari LGA. Malam Nasiru Baro, dealing with poor health, now struggles to care for eight children alone since Wednesday morning.
