The Nigerian Army has successfully destroyed 32 illegal oil bunkering sites across the Niger Delta region. Lt. Col. Danjuma Jonah, the Assistant Director of Public Relations for the Division, revealed in a statement that multiple suspects were apprehended during these operations, which also led to the destruction of 54 locally constructed boats utilized for illegal activities and the interception of vehicles transporting stolen petroleum products.

In Omoku, within the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (LGA), troops dismantled two illegal refining sites and confiscated significant amounts of stolen crude oil. This operation uncovered three large tanks containing over 45,000 liters of crude, as well as six drums holding more than 1,200 liters of automotive gas oil (AGO) and additional quantities stored in mini tanks and dugout pits.

Further operations in Karakrama, located in the Degema LGA, resulted in the destruction of 21 wooden boats and 12 fiber boats involved in illegal activities, alongside the seizure of over 28,000 liters of stolen crude oil.

In Bayelsa State, similar efforts were carried out, leading to the deactivation of illegal refining sites in Nembe LGA and the recovery of over 5,000 liters of stolen products. In Delta State, troops intercepted a tipper truck transporting more than 30 drums of stolen condensate, resulting in the arrest of two individuals.

Additionally, in Akwa Ibom State, operations led to the seizure of two trucks, each carrying over 30,000 liters of stolen products along the Port Harcourt-Ikot Abasi road. Several jerry cans and bags filled with stolen crude were also intercepted in Ikot Abasi LGA.
