Lagos, Oct. 15, 2024 (TheGavel) – Paul David, a 50-year-old man, was brought before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, accused of defrauding a woman of N407,000 under the false promise of securing a rental apartment. David faced charges of conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretenses, and theft, as he stood before Magistrate L.K.J. Layeni.

During the court hearing, David pleaded not guilty to all charges. Prosecutor ASP Simon Uche outlined the case, explaining that in September, David, along with accomplices still at large, allegedly conspired to deceive Victoria Samuel by offering to help her find an apartment. Uche further stated that David unlawfully obtained the money from Samuel, violating Sections 287, 316, and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

After the arraignment, Magistrate Layeni granted David bail at N200,000, with the condition that he must provide two sureties in the same amount. The case has been adjourned until November 18 for further proceedings. (NAN)
