American rapper, Curtis James Jackson III known professionally as 50 Cent, says he turned down a $3 million offer to perform at Donald Trumpās New York rally.
Despite previously expressing admiration for the former president, the rapper revealed on The Breakfast Club that he āgot a callā asking him to perform his track āMany Men (Wish Death)ā at the Republican national convention for a similar fee.
āI didnāt talk to them about that kinda stuff. Iām afraid about politics,ā he said.
The 2003 song āMany Men (Wish Death)ā, inspired by the rapperās near-fatal shooting in 2000, recently saw a resurgence among Trump supporters and hit the top 10 on iTunes.
āHe says āfightā,ā Jackson said about Trump last month. āAll right. And thatās exactly what I did after I got shot. I just went into fight mode. People identify with it that way.ā
Earlier this year, he also wrote on social media, āI think Trumpās gonna be president again, but Iām not going to say that.ā
Trumpās rally, held at Madison Square Garden, drew criticism after comedian Tony Hinchcliffeās racially charged jokes.
Following Hinchcliffeās remarks about Puerto Rico, celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Bad Bunny publicly supported Kamala Harris in her campaign for president.
