American rapper, Curtis James Jackson III known professionally as 50 Cent, says he turned down a $3 million offer to perform at Donald Trumpโ€™s New York rally.

Despite previously expressing admiration for the former president, the rapper revealed on The Breakfast Club that he โ€œgot a callโ€ asking him to perform his track โ€œMany Men (Wish Death)โ€ at the Republican national convention for a similar fee.

โ€œI didnโ€™t talk to them about that kinda stuff. Iโ€™m afraid about politics,โ€ he said.

The 2003 song โ€œMany Men (Wish Death)โ€, inspired by the rapperโ€™s near-fatal shooting in 2000, recently saw a resurgence among Trump supporters and hit the top 10 on iTunes.

โ€œHe says โ€˜fightโ€™,โ€ Jackson said about Trump last month. โ€œAll right. And thatโ€™s exactly what I did after I got shot. I just went into fight mode. People identify with it that way.โ€

Earlier this year, he also wrote on social media, โ€œI think Trumpโ€™s gonna be president again, but Iโ€™m not going to say that.โ€

Trumpโ€™s rally, held at Madison Square Garden, drew criticism after comedian Tony Hinchcliffeโ€™s racially charged jokes.

Following Hinchcliffeโ€™s remarks about Puerto Rico, celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Bad Bunny publicly supported Kamala Harris in her campaign for president.
